Bioinformatics Solutions on AWS
Bioinformatics is a rapidly evolving field. Each year more data at higher resolutions are produced. New algorithms, analysis packages, and data visualization apps are produced to keep up with the astonishing amounts of data and research.
Bioinformaticians need to keep up with the fast moving science as well as the technology. In recent years, many companies have either expanded or gone all in on cloud computing, offering an additional layer of complexity.
This book aims to demystify the different AWS service offerings, breaking them down by type and demonstrating how they are applicable to a data science ecosystem. Each AWS deployment scenario is described within the context it is used, whether that is deploying a development infrastructure for hands on analysis, a workflow management system for production pipelines, or a data visualization application backed by an elastic parallel computing cluster.
Topics Covered
A discussion of successful data science projects such as GnomAD, Scanpy, and Cellprofiler along with their corresponding infrastructure.
What services on AWS can you spin up in order to run your analyses with cost and time efficiency.
How, when, and why to use the High Performance Computing Clusters, Kubernetes Clusters, or EC2 instances.
